🗣 Sometimes a move up the corporate ladder isn’t available, therefore, you must create your own move.
- Lateral moves have the power to move you to a new ladder.
- Lateral moves can be disguised as a transitional role that doesn’t appear to be a promotion or a climb up the ladder but will open new doors for you.
- Lateral moves are used for positioning, just like bishops and rooks are in chess. Get your pieces in place for checkmate.
🗣 Listening is the most important part of communication, as you’re allowing someone to be heard and you’re the one gaining information and learning.
1) Never interrupt, unless to ask a clarifying question.
2) Never assume you know what someone is going to say.
3) Paraphrase the speaker’s words.
4) Practice patience.
5) Listen to understand instead of listening to reply.
