Would you trust someone who isn’t authentic?
On Today’s Work Lessons 101 Q&A Show, we address the question:
📌 Why be authentic?
🗣 We are told that we must leave our comfort zone but very few tell us, exactly how to do that...
📌 How to leave your comfort zone?
In the video, I discuss the three step process I use.
🥇 Step 1: Awareness of your career ambitions.
🥈 Step 2: Embrace your feelings.
🥉 Step 3: Take a step – A baby step is still a step; they can add up to a giant leap.
❤️ There are rewards when you leave your comfort zone, I provide an example from my own life.
🗣 You have become an effective communicator and strategist, when you can turn a difficult situation into a positive outcome.
📌 How to deal with a difficult Client?
🥇 Step 1: Categorize their difficulty? Why are they difficult? Are they a bully etc.?
🥈 Step 2: Assess the time you need to work with them. Is it worth the battle?
🥉 Step 3: Assess their motive? Once you are aware of their motive, you can develop their strategy?
🗣 Careers can take many unforeseen turns and bends… but many times, the person who plans and strategies can manipulate these turns and control their direction. With a plan and strategy, you can be your own puppeteer.
📌 How to switch departments?
🥇 Step 1: First assess if your company allows this? Do they offer multiple career paths?
🥈 Step 2: Gage your boss? Will they support you? Or will they try to pigeonhole you?
🥉 Step 3: Update resume and career development plan, develop your strategy.
Step 1: Education or Entrepreneur, regardless of the route, you will need to self-educate, dedicate yourself to lifelong learning. The routes don’t need to be in parallel, they can go in series.
Step 2: Assess yourself and what are you willing to compromise on?
Step 3: What skills do you bring to the table? How will you gain the skills you require to be successful? Education and working for someone else can be a first step to branching out on your own.
You don’t get legacy; you build and earn legacy over the course of your life.
Legacy is established based on how the public remembers you… and this is generally created on how you have impacted society (good or bad) and how you have treated people.
Be cautious if you’re chasing legacy… this can become a trap if you aren’t careful. The need for Legacy can often be driven by your ego and the thirst for power and money.
Chasing legacy can compromise you and leave you unfulfilled.
